Lise Leroux

Writer and Playwright

Lise Leroux

Originally from Montreal, Lise has lived a third of her life each in the US, UK, and Canada. She’s been working in learning and development for most of her career within such diverse areas as aviation security, transportation, publishing, finance, employability and community assistance programmes, prisons, law and banking.

Being afraid of heights (and not liking fear to win), Lise began to leap out of perfectly good aircraft and continued doing so six hundred more times. She eventually parachuted into her own wedding to a fellow skydiver, but unfortunately had not gained much in the way of directional sense, so ended up landing on a sheep. Luckily for all involved, she remained friends with the sheep although not her now ex-husband.

After the publication of her first book, ONE HAND CLAPPING, Lise ran away to sea and travelled around the world in cruise ships stuffed full of badly behaved people. After seeing 97 countries for one hour each, she’s now back, and writing again …

"Leroux sweeps smoothly into suspending our disbelief and doesn’t neglect to explore the blackly humorous side. An engrossing, character-driven piece of serious weirdness, and remarkably affecting.
